A visit to Venice is for many people an ambition, for an artist it is a must. The unique combination of history, architecture and a very cosmopolitan atmosphere provide the artist with a substantial amount of material. This is one of the best known views though I decided to paint it as a typical day on the canal.

This painting shows a line of gondolas leaving the grand canal to show their passengers a view of the bridge from both sides. The gondolas then "u turn" and head back towards the grand canal. This is a very busy part of Venice particularly on a Sunday. The footbrige in the middle of the picture was crowded with people watching the activity. The atmosphere was incredible.
