COOLANDSHADYRESTc.jpg

“Cool and Shady Rest”

A Cotswolds landscape on a very hot summers day. Some sheep are grazing most are taking advantage of the cool in the shadow of a tree.

DIMENSIONS: 20 x 30”

MEDIUM: Oil

RIVERLUNEc.jpg

“River Lune Lancashire”

We began this walk in Kirby Lonsdale. The path takes you south along the river and about one mile down stream looking back you see this view. The autumn colours in the tree were essential to "complement"  the blue in the sky and river.

DIMENSIONS: 20 x 30”

MEDIUM: Oil

RIVERWHARFc.jpg

“River Wharf Yorkshire Dales”

I have done a walk from Linton to Burnsall several times now. This time the light and colours were about the best I had ever experienced and I was very pleased to capture this moment and produce this painting.

DIMENSIONS: 20 x 30”

MEDIUM: Oil

CRUMMOCKWATERc.jpg

“Crummock Water”

Probably one of the best known views in the Lake District. The hazy mountains created great depth and mood and contributed greatly to the sucess of this painting.

DIMENSIONS: 16 x 24”

MEDIUM: Oil

BORROWDALELANEc.jpg

“Borrowdale Lane”

I painted this scene following a visit to Borrowdale in spring. The light was perfect producing hazy distant mountains and lovely dappled shade on the lane and stone wall.

DIMENSIONS: 16 x 24”

MEDIUM: Oil

KITZBUHELAUSTRIAc.jpg

“Austrian Tyrol Near Kitzbuhel”

My wife and I went on a walking holiday to Austria in June. Shortly after we arrived we realised that there had been an unexpected but not unprecedented fall of snow. Though this put an end to some of the more challenging high level routes we had planned, it did turn the landscape into a winter wonderland. This scene captured several days later after a thaw shows the remnants of the snow in gullies. Incidentally the lucky people who live in this typical Tyrolean property enjoy some of the most dramatic and sensational views in the area.

DIMENSIONS: 22 x 32”

MEDIUM: Oil

TARNHOWSc.jpg

“Tarn Hows”

One thing landscape painting has taught me is that light is fleeting and being in the right place at the right time is essential. The moment captured in this painting was late in the day and was pariticlarly beautiful and I was very pleased to create this painting of such a special place.

DIMENSIONS: 18 x 32”
